Floating Overlay — Privacy Policy
Floating Overlay ("the app") is an Android utility made by iMango Studio ("we"). It shows a small floating panel above other apps with the date and time, the name of the app you are using and a label you write, plus a screenshot button. This policy explains what the app handles and why.
1. Summary
We (iMango Studio) don't collect any personal data: there are no accounts, no analytics and no servers of ours that receive data from the app. The settings screen shows a banner ad served by Google AdMob, and the AdMob SDK collects some device data to show ads, as described in section 4. The floating panel itself never shows ads. What the panel shows (the app you are using, your label, your screenshots) stays on your phone and is never shared with AdMob or anyone else. We don't sell any data.
2. What the app accesses on your device
| Access | Why | What happens to it |
|---|---|---|
| Display over other apps | Draw the floating panel on top of other apps | Shown on screen only |
| Usage access | Read which app is currently in the foreground, to show its name on the panel | Only the latest app is read; it is kept in memory and never saved or sent |
| Screen capture (Android's screen-sharing dialog) | Take a screenshot when you tap the camera button, after you approve the system dialog | Saved as a PNG file in Pictures/Screenshots/FloatingOverlay on your device only |
| Notifications | Show the notification Android requires while the panel or a capture session is running, with Hide / Settings / Turn off / Stop buttons | Local only |
| Storage (Android 8–9 only) | Save screenshots to the Pictures folder | Local only |
| Internet and advertising ID | Used only by the Google AdMob SDK to load the banner ad on the settings screen | Sent to Google to request and measure ads, see section 4 |
You can turn off display over other apps, usage access, screen capture and notifications in Android settings at any time; the app keeps working with what is left (for example, without usage access the panel shows no app name).
3. Data stored on your device
Your settings (panel size, position, opacity, date format, language, capture mode) and your custom label are saved in the app's private storage on your phone. They are excluded from Android's cloud backup and device transfer. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them. Screenshots stay in your Pictures folder until you delete them.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The settings screen shows a banner ad from Google AdMob, a third-party service run by Google. To serve, measure and personalize ads and to prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK may collect:
- Device identifiers, such as the Android advertising ID
- Your IP address and the approximate location derived from it
- Ad interactions (for example, which ads were shown or tapped) and basic device and app information
- Diagnostics, such as ad performance and crash data from the SDK
This data goes directly to Google, not to us, and is handled under Google's Privacy Policy. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
To limit personalized ads, reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads, depending on your phone). You will still see ads, but they will be less tailored to you. If your phone is offline or no ad is available, no banner is shown.
5. Children
Floating Overlay is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from children.
6. Changes
If this policy changes, we update this page and the effective date above.
